Fivenines vs HetrixTools: what changes?
HetrixTools already combines external uptime checks with server metrics, running processes and service health. It also has public status pages and cron monitoring with schedules and grace periods. Those features alone are not a reason to move.
Fivenines is worth evaluating when you need per-container failure details, a Proxmox cluster view, package vulnerability scanning and configurable incident workflows. If IP or domain blacklist monitoring is essential, keep HetrixTools for that job: Fivenines does not replace it.

Why teams consider Fivenines instead of HetrixTools
-
Docker failure context
See per-container CPU, memory and network usage alongside exit codes, OOM kills, healthcheck status and restart loops. Start investigating with the affected container in view.
-
Proxmox cluster visibility
Discover nodes, VMs, LXC containers and storage through the Proxmox API. Track quorum, guest state and backup coverage instead of assembling a cluster view from separate host graphs.
-
Alerts connected to incidents
Build workflows that combine triggers, conditions and notifications. Keep incident updates and resolution in a timeline, and publish customer-facing incidents to a status page when needed.
When HetrixTools might be a better fit
Compare pricing by the checks you actually need
HetrixTools' free uptime plan includes 15 uptime monitors with an attached server agent available for each. Its Professional plan starts at $9.95/month for 30 uptime monitors and 30 server monitors. The free plan includes one-minute uptime checks and requires an account login at least once every 90 days.
Fivenines Starter is €19/month for 15 monitors shared across servers, uptime checks and cron tasks. Five servers plus five uptime checks plus five tasks use 15 monitors. Starter's external uptime checks run at a minimum two-minute interval; Pro supports one-minute checks. Compare the current plans using the same inventory, required intervals and notification channels.
Collection speed is not the main reason to switch. HetrixTools' Linux agent samples metrics every three seconds by default and sends data each minute. Fivenines collects server metrics every 60 seconds by default. Focus the trial on whether the container, cluster and incident views make your day-to-day work easier.
A practical HetrixTools migration checklist
- Separate the jobs each tool does. List server agents, uptime endpoints, cron jobs, status pages and blacklist monitors. Retain a blacklist service if you need one, and keep access to historical HetrixTools reports.
- Pilot a host with a real workload. Install Fivenines while HetrixTools remains active. Use Docker monitoring or Proxmox monitoring to test the specific visibility you are switching for.
- Recreate and test your checks. Match endpoint methods, expected responses, locations and intervals. For cron jobs, verify the schedule, timezone, grace period and new ping URL. Test an alert and recovery with the intended recipients before removing the old check.
- Move customer communication last. Review status-page components and incident publication before changing a public link or custom domain. Custom-domain status pages require Pro or above. Fivenines begins collecting new data; agent installation does not transfer your HetrixTools history or configuration.
